KMWE and Fokker expand co-operation
The first components are scheduled to be delivered by mid-2015 to Fokker’s assembly line in Papendrecht. Fokker Program Manager Martin Vreeburg said “we are pleased that a Dutch company is selected as a supplier who is not only competitive but who also makes a substantial contribution to the technological product development”.
For KMWE the agreement with Fokker is a significant step in their business development strategy. “It is an absolute milestone for KMWE and we are proud to further strengthen both our relationship with Fokker and our global position in the aerospace industry” said Peter van Lieshout Account Manager Aerospace & Defence at KMWE.
Fokker and KMWE already have a long-term strategic co-operation agreement for the production of aircraft components for business jets. This new agreement is the next step towards a closer co-operation between the two Dutch companies with the twin objective of remaining competitive and responsive in this demanding market.
Latest machining technology
The latest product developments within the program are still in the design phase, but KMWE is already preparing for the moment when cutting metal can begin. It is investing in advanced machining concepts that will produce the best performance in terms of manufacturing cost, state-of-the-art technology and customer requirements. This forward planning will see KMWE install (at its factory in Eindhoven) a new Chiron Mill 3000 High Speed Plus machine in February 2015; this 5-axis CNC machining centre is designed for manufacturing large components.
